This graphic image shows how defined intersections are displayed in System Manager™. Please note the Signal Manager^® and Markings Manager^® icons on the top right of the image. The presence of these icons indicates that Signal and Marking Records have been defined for the highlighted location.

The System Manager™ Module is a required component of VIMMS^® 2000 that is shared by each of the Asset Management modules. This base module contains all of the location tables (Roadway Names, Roadway Segment Lengths, Intersections and Reference Points, Primary Maintenance Area and Secondary Maintenance Area assignments). Also fields for optional unique roadway attributes and System Housekeeping functions such as setting up User ID's, passwords and security levels and database repair tools are included in this module. In addition, Map Manager™ and Report Manager™ are integral components of the System Manager Module™.

A road network is not generally static because modifications such as jurisdictional boundary changes, name changes, roadway additions, new intersections, changes in road segment lengths and road closures are required. System Manager™ utilizes VTMS' proprietary Dynamic Segmentation technology to allow a user to easily make road network modifications. When such changes are required to previously defined roadways, VTMS' technology dynamically adjusts the physical position of all existing asset records. This is an important consideration when selecting an Asset Management System.

Graphic Images

The Sign Manager^®, Signal Manager^®, Lights Manager^®, Markings Manager^® and Shop Manager^® modules are image enabled. Although VIMMS^® is supplied with several thousand graphic images for standard traffic control devices, an agency may easily add other graphical representations or digital photographs to their corresponding management module.

For example, in the Sign Manager^® Module while viewing a specific Sign Record, you can simultaneously activate a full-color graphical display of the associated sign type. Over 2,400 sign images are available and additional custom images can be provided.

In the Signal Manager^®, and Markings Manager^® Modules, plan views of the intersection layouts can be used. An example of these image types is illustrated below.
